HOW IT ALL STARTED
Who said family businesses need a grand plan? Not for us at FreakyFoxx! Our adventure began on a bumpy road - a health scare. It was tough, but it reshaped my life, making me see the world in brighter colors. Suddenly, my life was craving a creative spark and a positive change. The answer? FreakyFoxx. Born in 2014, it was a child of positivity, a beacon of change, and a playground for creativity.
What sets our jewelry apart? It's got personality! It's inspired by the raw beauty of nature - its shapes, textures, and colors. Each piece tells a story of 'perfectly imperfect' randomness. And the best part? Our jewelry doesn't pick sides. It's got a rough edge that's perfect for men, yet it’s elegant enough to charm any woman. The result? A versatile accessory that works for everyone, every mood, every style.
At FreakyFoxx we love to play. And we play with porcelain in a way no one else does. Our aim? To create something fresh, high-quality, and irresistible. We want to make that one-of-a-kind piece that you’ll instantly fall in love with, the one that will always be your go-to in your jewelry box.
Every great design begins with an idea. And our ideas? They’re well-traveled. They're born in the heart of the Himalayas, crafted on the slopes of Mount Arakan, and infused with the magic of Moroccan villages. Each journey we take fills our memory bank, giving us inspiration for our jewelry. These experiences shape our designs, adding their unique forms, textures, and colors.
How was it made?
Our color journey is an exciting one. We experiment, mix, and play until we get the perfect shades for our porcelain. We blend in different metal pigments, transforming porcelain’s color from ordinary to extraordinary.
This is the moment when ideas come to life. We knead, mold, sculpt, pour the porcelain, employ a multitude of unique techniques that we have devised, and create the appearance of the future piece of jewelry: its shape and texture.
Bisque firing is the big leap in our jewelry creation process. It’s the first time our porcelain pieces get to meet the heat of the kiln. This step pulls out all the moisture from the pieces, leaving them tougher and ready to take on their next challenge - glazing.
After our pieces come out of the bisque firing, we're not quite done. They need a bit of a touch-up. We go over each piece, carefully softening any sharp edges. We're not altering our unique style, just ensuring that the jewelry is comfortable to wear.
We wash each piece to make sure no dust is left from the last process. After that, each piece is thoroughly washed, we let them dry out, making sure they're completely moisture-free before glazing.
For some pieces, we meticulously apply a transparent glaze. This glaze under the extreme heat of 1320°C in the kiln transforms into a glass-like coating, lending a glossy shine - perfect base for gold or platinum luster. Some parts of FreakyFoxx jewelry are left in their natural, unglazed state, presenting a different kind of beauty – raw and organic.
After the glazing process, we move on to precious metal plating. Selected pieces receive a careful application of gold or platinum luster. This isn't a quick brush stroke - it requires precision and patience. It's all about giving them that extra shine. But for some of our unglazed pieces, we apply gold luster in a special way that creates a soft, matte finish. The contrast of the matte gold on the raw porcelain is truly unique. After the luster is applied, we send the pieces back into the kiln for a final round of heat. This step firmly bonds gold or platinum to the porcelain, ensuring the luxury shine.
In some of our jewelry, you'll find handmade details of sterling silver. These parts aren't sourced from outside - they're crafted right here at the FreakyFoxx studio. We shape and polish each sterling silver piece by hand. The silver elements add a touch of understated elegance to our creations.
The final step in the creation of each piece of FreakyFoxx jewelry is fastening the fixtures. Whether it's a post or a chain, I use hypoallergenic stainless steel or sterling silver for these parts. It's about ensuring that every piece is not only a treat for the eyes but also gentle on your skin and comfortable to wear.
